Let’s face it: keeping school uniforms bright white in our dusty climate is a challenge. Between the humidity in Negombo and the playground dust, “white” quickly turns to “beige.”
Here are three tips we use at Sorted.lk to keep uniforms looking fresh:
1. Don’t let the sweat sit
In our humidity, sweat turns yellow fast. If you wash uniforms once a week, soak them immediately after school. Don’t leave them in the hamper dry for days.
2. The Sun is your friend (mostly)
Sunlight is a natural bleach. Drying whites in the bright Negombo sun helps kill bacteria and whiten fabric. However, be careful with colored crests, ties, or school badges—direct sun will fade them quickly.
3. Use the right amount of Blue
Bluing agents make whites look brighter, but too much makes them look… well, blue. We measure precisely for every load to get that crisp “new shirt” look.
